February is low vision awareness month:
The Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind- Chicago, Il. Celebrates the occasion with a low vision products show.

1. Low vision products show in Orland Park – February 28th.

Date: Feb. 28th
Times: 2 pm – 8 pm

**Special note:
Budget’s everywhere are facing trouble. In Illinois the governor cut the budget providing books for school aged visually impaired/blind children. The Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind started a letter writing process which eventually helped to restore the money cut from the budget providing Braille and large print textbooks to children across the state. A letter writing campaign is a great example of an event anyone can become involved in and make a difference.

During the month of February find a vision issue in your area which you can get involved with and make a difference in someone’s life.


Aged Related Macular Degeneration:
The article this week discussed the topic concerning the use of stem cells to improve vision damaged by different forms of macular degeneration. Take a moment and read about the medical trial that produced improved vision from stem cell therapy.
