This past Friday night on Smackdown saw two champions retain their titles. Christian successfully defended his Intercontinental title against Dolph Ziggler
with Cody Rhodes sitting at ringside to scout the match. Rhodes will square off against Christian at the "NO WAY OUT" pay-per-view next Sunday June 17, 2012.

The WWE champion Sheamus successfully defended his title on Smackdown against Kane by disqualification when Alberto Del Rio and Carlos Rodriguez came down to the ring. Sheamus quickly took out Rodriguez and Del Rio never entered the ring. Kane was about to chokeslam Sheamus when A.J. came down to the ring and distracted Kane, giving Sheamus time to recover and nail the "Big Red Machine" with a Brogue kick to the face. Sheamus then beckoned Del Rio into the ring but the "Mexican Aristocrat" knew better. Carlos Rodriguez, Del Rio's personal ring announcer got to his feet and Sheamus blasted him with a Brogue kick as well.
