Spanish Irregular Verbs (Part II): Stem-changing verbs. There is a group of irregular Spanish verbs, called "stem-changing verbs". (See Spanish Irregular Verbs (Part I)).
Before leaning how stem-changing verbs are conjugated, let´s briefly review some important points about verbs, so that it is easier for you to understand them. Spanish Irregular Verbs (Part I) After having studied how Spanish regular verbs are conjugated (Present Tense), in this lesson you´ll find the basics on Irregular verbs. Conjugation of Spanish Regular Verbs As we learned in previous lessons, Spanish verbs can be either regular or irregular. Regular verbs always follow the same pattern when they are conjugated. Let´s see how it works! Introduction to Spanish verbs. Before this first approach to Spanish verbs, let´s begin with a question: What´s a verb? From a grammatical point of view, a verb is a word that is used to indicate and action, state or condition. Verbs function as the predicate of a sentence or introduce the predicate. Negation - How to build negative sentences in Spanish. Now that you know the basics on affirmative sentences, let´s go farther. Spanish negative sentences are not difficult to learn; there are just some rules we must follow. The verb Estar We learned there are two Spanish verbs -Ser and Estar- that are the equivalent for the English verb To be. Today we´re going to study the verb Estar, its conjugation and uses. The verb Ser Spanish verbs "Ser" and "Estar" are both translated as “To be”. The differences in use between these two Spanish verbs is a difficult point for a lot students of Spanish. Through this lesson we’ll review and learn how to use the verb “Ser”. Spanish Plural Forms In order to form the plural of Spanish nouns, there is a basic rule, similar to the English one: If the Spanish word ends in an unaccented vowel (usually e), we’ll add –s, and if the word ends in consonant, the plural form is made by adding –es.
