Ingredients:
1 Tbsp sugar-free orange marmalade
1 Tbsp sugar-free apricot marmalade
1 tsp sugar-free honey
few drops lemon juice
pinch white pepper
pinch salt
pinch ginger
Begin with the orange and apricot marmalades, stirring those together in a small microwave-safe bowl. Then mix in the honey, thoroughly integrating it. Now add in the lemon juice, pepper, salt, and ginger to taste. This is where your individual taste buds will come in - some people like saltier flavors, while others enjoy spicier flavors.
Cover and microwave for about 10 seconds on high. The sauce should integrate nicely and be slightly warm.
Use it as a dipping sauce or spread for your favorite fish and chicken dishes. There are a number of meats which can be fairly dry on their own, this is a great way to moisten them without adding many calories at all. The flavors are great! A lovely fruity medley to keep your taste buds engaged.
Since most of this depends on what brands you are able to get at your store the carb count will vary based on which particular ones you can get. Still, the carb count should be extremely low - far below what you'd see on a comparable high-sugar variety of sweet-sour sauce.
A note on the low sugar honey - we have to buy this in bulk at a larger store that's a fair drive for us. It's worth it to us, because we can use it in a wide variety of food items. It's a great substitute for sugar and has a lovely flavor as well. You can even use it in tea as a relaxing evening sipper.
Of course feel free to substitute in any other flavors of marmalade that you personally enjoy!
