Marrow Wine

No, not that marrow! The English marrow. Join us and find out what it is.

Frazer Irwin is an English horticulturist and historian. He found this recipe for Marrow Wine and sent it to me. My first thought was, 'Yuck! Disgusting!' My second thought, when I remembered what an English marrow is, was, 'Yuck! Disgusting!'

What exactly is an English marrow? It's a squash. The Cambridge Dictionary defines it as:
A long round vegetable with a thick green or yellow skin, white flesh and a lot of seeds at its centre.

With more thought it sounded exactly like a zucchini. Zucchini wine? Well, you see what I mean about 'Yuck!' If you have ever made Marrow Wine or are game to try, let me know how it turns out.

You can see pictures of marrows here, at the Soham site.

Special from Geerlings & Wade!
