Workout Motivation

Getting started with exercise is not a huge problem for many. The real challenge starts once you've been going a few weeks. You have to be able to boost workout motivation so you can stick to exercise long enough to see amazing results and make it fitness a lifetime habit. Here's 3 inspiring and fun ways to skyrocket your exercise motivation.

1. Plan Weekend Fitness Adventures.
Maybe you've always dreamed of fast packing the Inca trail or surfing Hawaii's North Shore or ice climbing in Norway but getting there seems too involved. No worries, there are tons of fitness adventures to be had within miles of where you live. All you have to do is find a place that sound exciting then start planning your activities around your destination. We planned a fitness adventure just like this to Lake Powell, Utah, and The Grand Canyon and we enjoyed kayaking, hiking, and bouldering. Every workout leading up to this trip was about being fit enough to handle four days of non-stop activities. Women's Health Magazine has a monthly feature called You Can Do This that shows you exactly how to make it happen!

2. Run Walk or Bike for A Cause.
Donating your time and your sweat for a cause creates unstoppable workout motivation. It also increases awareness for your cause, raises money, and is a great bonding experience. Dean Karnazes author of 50/50: Secrets I Learned Running 50 Marathons in 50 Days -- and How You Too Can Achieve Super Endurance! says "There's something about the goal of finishing a marathon, or even a half-marathon or 10k, that enables an individual to establish exercise as a daily habit and shed excess weight. For whatever reason, people find more motivatino in looking months ahead to the dream of completing an event - which, for most, will be the hardest physical chalenge they have ever faced-than they find in simply trying to run three or four miles a day to lose some fat." More tips from Dean coming soon.

3. Become A Groupie.
You got your workouts scheduled, your healthy meals all planned out, your fitness gear ready but do you have the support of other people just like you who have days when workout motivation is non-existent or weeks when exercise motivation is so low that it's hard to workout with the intensity it takes to really burn the fat. Research studies show that being part of a group boosts success considerably. Join a boot camp, check out online discussion groups, or join a membership site and get support from other like minded people and you'll get closer to your fitness goals fast.
