Apple Bread Pudding

Here's a delicious apple-cinnamon variation of a favorite traditional comfort food dessert. It's a wonderful autumn recipe that's a great dessert any time of the year.

  • 1 tsp. butter
  • 4 cups peeled and finely chopped apples
  • 2 cups bread cubes
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, light or dark
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup hot water

Preparation -
Place about 2 cups of the apples in the bottom of a generously buttered 2 quart casserole. Add about 1 cup of the bread cubes and about half of the brown sugar. Repeat the layers. Pour the hot water over the mixture. Sprinkle with the cinnamon. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350º for 30 minutes. Remove the cover and bake for about 10 to 15 more minutes or until lightly browned on top. Serve warm or chilled.
