Gynecology Book Club
Each month we will explore a new book that will empower women to live healthier and happier. If there is a lot of interest and input, there may be two, or even three books reviewed. (Some women are voracious readers!) The focus will be on health-related titles which are written in easy-to-understand language. Topics will vary widely in scope, but will have a similar theme – helping women to realize their goals regarding their health.
While issues pertaining to gynecologic issues will be at the forefront of this book club, it is important to realize that most women do not die from gynecologic diseases. Therefore, we will explore a myriad of topics that women need to know about in order to live longer and stronger.
Though I will ultimately choose the book of the month, I welcome your input regarding the issues that are important to you. This will help me research various books before I decide on the one that will be featured each month.
The goal of this book club is to be very interactive. The gynecology site forum is the place where we will share our thoughts and ideas. Once we have a lot of faithful participants we may even add a regular book chat so we can communicate with each other in real-time.
I am also interested in a brief tagline for our book club, so please e-mail me with any suggestions. An example would be something like, “Women Seeking Wellness” or “Warriors for Health.” I look forward to your suggestions and would prefer to use the suggestion of one of the participants instead of my own. Please feel free to e-mail me with your thoughts and suggestions. The goal is for everyone to ‘own’ this book club. It should be a place where you feel comfortable sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings and a place where you develop close online friends with whom you can share your thoughts.
The more the merrier! Invite your friends and co-workers to participate. In addition to helping them, it will also help you feel more at ease since there will be others you know in the book club. No one likes a boring book club. Why even bother to read the book? This club should be lively and lots of fun. The best on the Internet! Don’t think of this as a dull classroom. Think of it as a thriving coffee shop with women of all ages and backgrounds who come together for a similar cause – to share, to learn, to live, and to thrive!
