On Friday, I hosted my third CAbi party and I have been to at least three others in the past two years. The first show I attended, I was blown away by the line. From jeans to jackets to reversible skirts to feminine tops and travel clothes, CAbi had it all. I purchased several items and immediately started getting compliments on everything I wore.
What's a CAbi party, you ask? CAbi actually stands for Carol Anderson by invitation, and the "party" is a bunch of your friends eating, drinking, and shopping for clothes, all in the comfort and privacy of the home. Carol Anderson who used to design a line of clothes that sold at Nordstrom and boutiques got tired of being told what to design, so she branched out and created her own company that sells exclusively through independent consultants. It's like those Pampered Chef and Tupperware parties you're always being invited to, only so much cooler!
After everyone gathers with something to eat and drink, the trunk show starts. We get to pretend we are buyers at a fashion show as the consultant shows the clothes in each collection – usually about 9 different collections - and we follow along in the catalog making notes on the various pieces that we want to try on later. She shows how various pieces mix and match, and some skirts were even reversible.
After the presentation, then the real fun begins! We get to try on the clothes!
As a seasoned CAbi party attendee, I have noticed that there are women who attend with all different body types and CAbi clothes seem to look fantastic a vast majority of them. CAbi has these pair of jeans that everyone started calling “magic” jeans because they seemed to look good on every shape – from triangle to hourglass and every size – from 0 to 16. In the summer, I went to a show at my friend Linda’s house, and there was a woman there who was pear-shaped and I tell you she looked marvelous in this little black skirt and jacket.
Why does CAbi look good on so many different shapes? Carol Anderson pays attention to the details when designing her line of clothing. One pair of pants called the Lauren Trousers has an A-line drape which flares at the bottom offsetting the hips and hiding those lumps and bumps. Other pants have wide waist bands that are slimming. Some of the jackets and vests come down in a curve in the back to give that area a little more coverage if necessary. She even has a blouse that makes your arms look thin and another that has double zippers so there isn’t any gapping at the chest.
With prices from $44 to $169, you can definitely find something in your budget. I was also pleased with the quality. Plus, you don't have to pay for shipping. As an incentive to have a bunch of women over to your house, the hostess gets a discount on her order if she wants to purchase anything.
If you want to feel self confident, beautiful and wear something that not everyone has then CAbi definitely makes the grade.
All in all, it was a great evening with girlfriends, chocolate covered strawberries, wine and clothes. These are a few of my favorite things!
