Quick & Easy Ideas for Meatballs

When you have bags of homemade meatballs from the Meatball Module in your freezer, dinner is always less than 30 minutes away. Here are some quick and easy ideas for using your delicious homemade meatballs.

””The easiest option, of course, is to cover the meatballs with your favorite prepared sauce, such as barbecue sauce, marinara or spaghetti sauce, teriyaki sauce, or sweet and sour sauce. There are several other sauce/marinades on the market that are almost as good as homemade, and since one or two varieties are most likely sitting on your pantry shelf, tonight’s dinner will be fast and easy!

After mixing them with your favorite sauce, the meatballs may be heated on top of the stove, or transferred to a casserole dish, covered, and baked at 350° until bubbly (with this method you can mix the meatballs with the sauce ahead of time, cover, and refrigerate until you get home from work, then pop them in the oven).

Meatballs may also be heated in a slow cooker; put the amount of meatballs you need into the slow cooker, pour the sauce over, cover, and heat them for an hour or two. While they are heating, prepare the accompaniments that go best with the sauce such as mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice. I don’t recommend cooking the meatballs all day in a slow cooker; although they will still taste great, they tend to break apart and won’t look like meatballs anymore. If you want to have your meatballs ready to serve when you get home from work, simply plug your slow cooker into a timer (available at discount stores) and have it turn on an hour or two before you want to eat. When I do this, I put the meatballs in the slow cooker frozen. While the meatballs will thaw at room temperature before they need to start heating up, they will be cold enough that there won’t be any danger of them spoiling.
