About the BellaOnline Accounting Editor

To be an accountant you must be passionate about business and about others. Accounting is a key to success for every organization and a source of fulfillment to the accountant. Accountants all over the world share the same values, dreams, and challenges. To be a successful accountant you have to find the perfect mix between excellent quality services and profit. Real-time decisions today are based on accurate financial information readily available. However, non-financial indicators must be considered when making informed decisions that will have a long-term impact.

Many credentials are available to accountants depending on their strengths and the direction they want to follow in the years ahead. For example, if one is determined to become an auditor, the credential should be CIA - Certified Internal Auditor. If the goal is to deter fraud, CFE - Certified Fraud Examiner, ABV – Accredited in Business Valuation. The newly AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) credential; CFF – Certified in Financial Forensics was approved due to the increasing demand for forensic accountants worldwide.

I Earned a Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration with major in Accounting from the University of South Florida. In addition, I hold a degree in accounting issued by the Central University in Colombia and a post degree in taxes and customs issued by the Catholic University in Colombia.
I am one of the members of the Editorial Task Force of the ACAMS (Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists), where I regularly contribute with articles on Anti-money Laundering issues worldwide. I help accountants and accountants-be become more aware of fraud risks and be more proficient on detecting fraud instances. I write articles on forensic accounting and fraud prevention detection for the largest network of CPAs in Colombia. I was one of the speakers for the 2008 Actualization Summit for CPAs in Colombia. I also write articles for an association of forensic auditors in Venezuela.

At present, I work for a Canadian company that has operations in the five continents. I am the accountant for the US Company. I am the winner of that company 2005 President’s Awards in the category of Savings Through Innovation.
