My days are spent island hopping. Home base is Parksville, British Columbia, a small town on Vancouver Island. Second home is in Oahu, but I actually spend more time as a lecturer on a cruise ship visiting islands all over the planet. I really love my job, even if it did take me 20 years to become an overnight success.

As well as lecturing I also write. Hopefully you may have seen my name on an article or two in newspapers or magazines in the United States and Canada, or perhaps even picked up a guidebook that I’ve written or contributed to.

Islands are a favorite destination for me. Each one is a microcosm of a society and each has a personality that is unique. From the spectacular profile of Bora Bora to the elegant wilderness of Cyprus it’s a joy to discover that each has to offer.

I hope you’ll join me on this island-hopping quest across the planet. Some islands you may already find familiar and some not. Let’s go traveling!
