My name is Cynthia Parker; I am 45 years old and the mother of two daughters, ages 22 and 18. I have been a single parent for seventeen years. My oldest daughter has left the nest to fly on her own. My youngest will graduate high school this year and be off to college in the fall. Soon I will be an empty-nester, at least on a part-time basis.

My "careers" are many: I am an administrative assistant at a local college, an English/Anthropology student, an aspiring author, head chef to a discriminating audience, a gardener, a plumber, a researcher, a collector, and an accomplished juggler (of funds, that is). Life is never dull.

But this site isn´t about me - its about single parents everywhere. Having lived most of my life as a single parent, I understand the hopes, fears, joys and concerns of single parenting. This is a forum for the concerns and triumphs of single parents. I want to address topics that are important to you. I want to help you find answers to your questions.
