Joanna Czechowska is a writer and editor living in London. She works as chief sub editor (copy editor) for a national weekly woman’s magazine and also writes articles (travel, lifestyle) and short stories. She has recently had her first novel, The Black Madonna of Derby, published. It focuses on the lives of an immigrant Polish family in the UK and the experiences of second generation Poles (some of it is based on personal experience). The novel was first published in Polish in Poland under the title Goodbye Polsko.
Joanna lived in Australia for two years and the USA for five years. Although she loved the experience of living abroad, she is now happily settled in the UK with her husband and two children Joseph (now studying at Warwick University) and Isobel who attends the Brit School (an art, music and theatre school in London). Joanna loves good quality television and is more than happy to spend a night at home curled up with the BBC.
