About the BellaOnline Buddhism Editor

Hello, and welcome to the BellaOnline Buddhism site. I am a mom, meditation teacher, and writer - mostly in that order, but it shifts from day to day. I was raised Christian but drawn to Buddhism in college, and have studied with both Vajrayana and Zen teachers. I eventually became interested in the mystic arms of all the world religions, and no longer affiliate myself solely with Buddhism, but it remains a personal passion, and my primary religious reference point.

Buddhism is many things to many people. For some, it is an organized religion with houses of worship, priests, rituals, and holidays. For others it is a philosophy, an approach to living that exists apart from any religion. For still others, it is a source of practices and tools for spiritual growth, within or outside of a Buddhist belief system. Over time, I hope to touch on all aspects of Buddhism within this site. If you are new to Buddhism be sure to check out the 10 Frequently Asked Questions About Buddhism.

I also have a special interest in women´s spirituality, and so make a point of featuring many women Buddhist authors, teachers, and biographies on this site.

In addition to this site, I maintain a non-denominational blog on women´s spirituality, women mystics, spiritual books, meditation, and spiritual parenting at Mommy Mystic. I have an Amazon.com Store that lists my recommended books on both Buddhism (for adults and kids) and other spiritual traditions. Or, if you are interested in meditation classes in the south Los Angeles area, check out my schedule at The Maat Institute.

Thanks for visiting-
Lisa
