About the BellaOnline Canadian Culture Editor

I was born and raised on Cape Breton Island, located in Nova Scotia on the east coast of Canada. Growing up we did not have alot of money, so instead of flying off to Disney land or other amusement parks around the world every year my family would do things close to home. I guess this is what really opened my eyes up to how many fun and interesting things there is to do in small towns and cities. Every Sunday we would go for a drive around the Cabot Trail (which is simply beautiful in the fall). We would stop somewhere along the way to bbq some supper, have a quick swim in a lake or the ocean, or bring out the fishing rod and see if we could catch a fish in a stream we found. Every summer we would attempt to go camping only each year it seemed to rain the whole entire time we were gone. We would also make frequent trips to the highlands to visit family and friends. I loved these trips as I always thought the people from here inherited most of Nova Scotiaīs culture as well as talent.

I have since moved out West and now live in the prairies of Alberta. From a fishing and mining town to a rigging town, I have lived here for four years and am still adjusting to the huge difference in cultures. I always have found it interesting to see the difference in the people, traditions and lifestyles from province to province I think itīs amazing the difference a few miles make. Through my travels I have also found that there is more culture packed into a small town or city then there is a big one. Though there is lots to do in big cities like Vancouver and Toronto, I personally love to travel to the smaller areas. Maybe itīs because I am a small town girl myself. I have spent my trips around Canada scouting out new things to see and do that travel agents would not necessarily tell you about. This will most likely come through in alot of my writing.

I have studied Canadaīs history through high school and University and have continued it on my own since. I enjoy learning more about Canada and sharing all the interesting things I learn. I look forward to sharing with you.

I am 21 years old and as I said earlier I live and have always lived in Canada. I am working my way through a BACS degree in psychology and hope to further into forensic psych in the years to come. I have worked in childcare for the last nine years and currently run a day care out of my house. I have a wide range of interest which I plan to bring to the site, my goal is to have something for everyone.I have always loved writing and dabbled in it through the years. I am working on my first book based on my years working in the childcare industry and running my own dayhome. It will give readers who plan on opening their own dayhome a guide to follow, money saving tips, lesson plans, as well as how to deal with many different situations that arise. I hope to make a career out writing, it really is a passion that I fully enjoy.
