In addition to her passion for fashion and jewelry, Susan enjoys gardening, reading, writing, fundraising, horseback riding, motorcycle riding, Internet marketing, music, dancing, gourmet food & wine, various crafts, birding, wildlife rehabilitation, and living and working in the country. But being a city girl originally she likes being close enough to her hometown of Toronto to keep abreast of what´s new and exciting in fashion. Since coming on board with BellaOnline, Susan´s ever-growing interest in jewelry has inspired her own designs, and Silver Spirit Designs is set to launch in the fall of 2007. The grand opening of her new website/blog, Susan´s Passion for Jewelry (SPJ), A Celebration of Wearable Art for Jewelry Lovers, is Halloween 2007 with a Preview Launch mid-October to shine the spotlight on designers in the Designers Showcase.
Having been fascinated by jewelry since she was a little girl, Susan loves all that glitters and, like the Ancient Egyptians, adores the earthy cool and gorgeous hue of polished gemstones like carnelian and turquoise that never go out of fashion. Her jewelry collection is an eclectic mix of primarily fashion jewelry – vintage & current Kirks Folly - Native American turquoise in rings, bracelets and chokers - vintage costume from the 50’s – Art Deco-style bracelets - African beads and wrist cuffs - and trendy contemporary designer pieces featuring a wide variety of precious and semi-precious gemstones like topaz, padparadscha sapphire, Cat’seye chrysoberyl, amethyst, garnet, and diamonds. Always very attracted to the flashy yet classy gleam of silver, she has recently taken a shine to all that´s rich and golden, too. Susan is particularly drawn to the history of jewelry in fashion and its cultural significance throughout the ages from ancient societies in Egypt, South America, and China to the global love affair our society enjoys with jewelry today.
Susan’s goal for the Fashion Jewelry site is that it be a celebration of jewelry as wearable art featuring the most fashion forward jewelry designers of today. Through interesting and provocative articles she will explore the newest jewelry trends, the trendsetters, and the fabulous designers and artists who bring the jewelry to life.
Susan is delighted to share her passion for ‘all that glitters’ and aspires to make the site into a rich one-stop online shopping and informational resource for the very best in fashion jewelry. Susan invites your questions, and welcomes your comments, too. Perhaps your question will spark an exciting new article. Please note: Susan is not accepting inquiries from designers or retailer seeking a press release for their business. Fashion Jewelry articles and interviews are not designed to be press releases and written based on Susan´s own research. Designers and retailers looking for ways to promote their business may contact Susan through her own independent website at SPJ
When Susan is not searching for fabulous fashion jewelry to buy and tell her visitors about, interviewing jewelry designers, and writing articles for her Fashion Jewelry and Jewelry Collecting sites at BellaOnline, she manages her family service business, walks her dogs, plays with her cats, and sings to her birds, designs and makes jewelry and works on her new website,SPJ
