About the BellaOnline Feng Shui Editor

Diane discovered Feng Shui completely by accident. While browsing in a bookstore, she came upon a book on Feng Shui and thought it would make an interesting read. This started her journey towards understanding the transformations that Feng Shui could bring about in people’s lives.

"Feng Shui is translated as wind and water, and like those elemental forces, it can shape our existence".

Diane has studied with leading teachers of Feng Shui in the United States and Canada, including Masters Larry Sang and Peter Leung. She is an “indoor” student of Master Shyan Tseng. As part of her apprenticeship she accompanied her master on a series of field research projects to a variety of international cities to study Feng Shui in action including hotels, factories, schools and more. She is a member of a global consulting group and the International Feng Shui Guild. Diane practices traditional, classical Feng Shui.

"When qi rides the wind, it is scattered; when it encounters water, it is retained."

She is pleased to have been appointed the new editor of the Feng Shui site at Bella Online and looks forward to your comments, questions and contributions.

FAQ

How can Feng Shui help me?

When the flow of Qi in your home or business is out of balance it can create problems, illness and delays in your life. By balancing the Qi, using time honored techniques, feng shui can provide you with the opportunity and supportive environment needed for you to live your best life.

Is Feng Shui a religion?

Feng Shui is not a religion and therefore does not conflict with your religious beliefs. It is a science and philosophy based on repeatable mathematical formulae. Feng Shui, developed by the Chinese, is based on over 3,000 years of collected wisdom and experience.

What is Qi?

Qi is the life force present in all things. It connects us to the universe and makes its energy available to us. It is what makes plants grow, gives us nourishment from food. It is the energy in the tides, the light and warmth of the sun. It is the refreshing drink of rain. It is the magnetic fields around us. Qi sustains us.

I´ve heard of the five elements. What are they and what is their use?

The five elements are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. They represent the different qualities of energy present in our environment. Each element has its own characteristics and relates to the other elements in particular ways. These elements are used to remedy any qi imbalance that may be present in your home and are also used to enhance positive energy aspects.

What is this talk about yin and yang?

You have probably seen the tai-ji symbol, a circle with a white swirl containing a dot of black and a black swirl containing a dot of white. Yin is the dark and yang the white. This is the representation of balance that is the foundation of Feng Shui. It is a representation of the changing seasons. It shows us how things are not black or white, but a mix of both. Within darkness there is light, and in light darkness. Keeping the balance is the goal of Feng Shui.

Do you use crystals, chanting or space clearing in your practice?

While having a neat, clean and ordered space is always good, space clearing is not a part of traditional feng shui. Crystals, chanting, incense, and the like are also not a part of traditional feng shui.
