Donna is passionate about home improvement projects. When she was 10 years old she began designing rooms in her head and mapping out floorplans on paper. This came in handy later in her adult life when she designed the floorplans for each home she and her husband have lived in.

Donna has had both good and bad experience working with contractors and her insight to the world of home improvement increased with each. She has also acted as her own contractor and hired plumbers, electricians and carpenters for some major home improvement projects, including finishing bedrooms, bathrooms and a basement to her design specifications.

She has had experience fixing up rental properties with her husband and making tremendous profits on resale. While her strengths are in decor and design more than labor and repairs, she has assisted in gutting rooms, patching holes, hanging wallpaper, installing flooring, painting walls and more.

She is always on the lookout for a new project to undertake in her current home and loves reading home improvement magazines and books for ideas and inspiration. She is never too far from a paintbrush and a weekend outing to Lowes or Home Depot is not uncommon.

Donna´s approach to the Home Improvement site is to encourage readers to create a home that they can truly enjoy. Donna believes that taking care of a home includes not only regular maintenance and repairs, but also decorating and designing a space to reflect the personality and needs of the owners.

Donna´s articles, book reviews and site content provide the resources and encouragement home owners can use to tackle projects on their own and make informed home improvement decisions. Donna also strives to inspire women to embrace do-it-yourself projects and often features home improvement information about successful female DIY-ers.

Donna is also BellaOnline’s Budget Decor Editor and is a Certified Interior Decorator (C.I.D.) and mosaic artist. She specializes in cottage style decorating and transforming furniture and flea market finds with aesthetic techniques. She resides in central Virginia with her husband and homeschools their children.
