About the BellaOnline Indian Culture Editor

Namaste!! Welcome to the Indian Culture site!

Have you ever wondered how many languages are spoken in India? Does India still have Maharajahs? Where is the “Thousand Pillar Temple"in India? Why do we have so many New Year celebrations in India? Where can we get a glimpse of elephants bathing? Why eating on a banana leaf is a tradition at Indian weddings in Southern India? Join me in discovering and learning about Indian Culture, one of the oldest cultures of the world!

Growing up, I had the opportunity to live in three different states of India with three different languages, their own movie industries, television channels, music and dance, different kinds of food and varied traditions, customs and celebrations. The fluency in these three languages and the national language of India, Hindi, helps me enjoy India’s vibrant and diverse culture.

Currently, I live in Canada with my husband and three children. My mornings always start with my on-line India newspapers. I keep my knowledge current with the Arts and Entertainment scene along with the changes that are happening in the social- political scene of India. I participate in cultural activities and am proud of the contributions of the Indian community in both United States of America and Canada. I try to travel each year to India and experience the social-cultural changes first hand.

Trained as a mental health clinician, I work in the field of mental health with focus on cross-cultural barriers faced by my clients. I also train and promote cultural competence among professionals.

I like spending time with my family outdoors, reading, watching Bollywood movies, eating at new restaurants, watching sports on TV and meeting people from different cultures.

One day, I hope to fill my wardrobe with a sari collection that represents each region of India!!!!
