About the BellaOnline Japanese Culture Editor

Hi~
I´m a Singaporean currently living in Japan. Ching is my surname, but feel free to call me Tas. It´s my other, unofficial, first name. Apart from English, I can speak Chinese (fluently) and Japanese (I possess the Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 certificate). I hold a Bachelor of Arts with a Double Major in Communication & Media Studies and Journalism. At present, I work as an English teacher in a Japanese public junior high school in Yokosuka City. Previously, I´d been working as an assistant English teacher at various public junior high and elementary schools in Oyama City in Tochigi Prefecture.

I´ve been interested in Japanese culture since young - music, games, manga, anime etc. In fact, I used to work as an English manga editor at Chuang Yi Publishing Pte Ltd in Singapore for a couple of years. Anyway, I made the big decision to leave Singapore and come experience living in Japan as a resident.

After having lived in this country for so long, I´ve developed an interest in Japanese traditional culture and history as well. I´ve travelled to quite a number of places in Japan during all these years, (and I´m not done yet - this country is so fascinating), and I hope to share my knowledge and experiences here with anyone who´s interested in Japan-related stuff.

My main interest, besides travelling within Japan and playing video games, is music. I like rock music, and I play the guitar. I also write songs, including Japanese ones - to date, I´ve got 4 original songs written in Japanese. I´ve got a Singer-Songwriter Specialist Certificate from Berklee College of Music, and I´ve also completed the Desktop Music Production for PC Course from the school too.

Do check out my songs on my Youtube channel if you´re interested:
