Kristen Welcome developed an interest in job search skills entirely by accident, as she finished up law school and began to hunt for a law firm to launch her new career. She saw some of her classmates quickly and easily land dream jobs, while others, who were equally qualified, struggled to be noticed. Kristen did find a law firm to call home, but not before she had undergone a grueling search to find the right fit.

In addition to her duties as an attorney, Kristen was also assigned to perform certain human resource functions at the firm, including receiving and reviewing resumes, conducting interviews of prospective employees, and making recommendations to the founding partners about which candidates stood out from the crowd. Seeing the job hunt from the other side of the desk, Kristen developed a very clear idea about which job search techniques were stellar, and which simply fell flat.

In 2005, Kristen left the practice of law to become a fulltime freelance writer and editor. She particularly enjoys using the lessons from her past experience to create resumes, cover letters and other materials to help job seekers in their quest. She hopes that visitors to this site find useful information that will help them land the perfect job for them.
