Rachel has lived in Afghanistan for almost 10 years with her husband. They have lived in their own private home in an Afghan neighborhood living among the people. She speaks Dari, enjoys Afghan tea, and wears a chadar when she goes out to shop where Afghans shop.

She and her husband have been involved in aid work, living in Kabul. She has traveled in over 50 countries of the world, including Israel, Egypt, Pakistan, Afghanistan, U.A.E., Turkey, and India.

Besides writing the Middle Easter Culture section in Bella Online, she is the webmaster for Bamyan Fine Art Gallery, writing about Afghan fine art and selling luxury Islamic art from Afghanistan.

She is also writing About Afghanistan. She wanted to portray the beautiful side of Afghanistan... different from what is commonly seen in the news.

She holds a Masters degree in Education. She loves to read, take hikes, and bake cookies for her children.
