Some may consider pro-choice as pro-abortion, and some may consider pro-life as anti-choice. It is a matter of semantics, but because of the personal nature of this debate, I hope to maintain a high level of sensitivity for my readers – particularly those who choose to participate in discussions here.
When Ms. Magazine requested names of women who had abortions and were willing to say so publicly, I sent in my name. I agonized over my decision, and if I ended up in the exact same situation today, it is unlikely I would be able to have an abortion because of current restrictions on the procedure. It is something that I don’t regret doing, and I have never felt ashamed of my decision. However, I’m aware that there are many women who may not be as self-assured. I am hoping that this site will be a good resource for women who are looking for accurate information on the pro-choice movement, and a safe place for them to discuss their thoughts and feelings on the pro-choice issues.
