First up is
All a Woman Wants by Patricia Rice (Signet Historical). Lachlan MacTavish needs a place to hide temporarily, someplace to shelter his dead sister´s children. Beatrice Cavendish has a place. But she has some conditions, and Mac may be her last chance to find out the mysteries between a man and a woman. Wonderful story. Mac is a truly great hero, the kind you wish for yourself: will defend those he loves to the death and sexy as sin. True, he does have some flaws, like stubborness and that male trait of not always seeing what´s in front of him. But Bea and Mac will give you hours of enjoyment while you read their story. I´m giving this one four of Cupid´s five arrows.

The second book I read this week is Ana Seymour´s
Black Swan (Jove´s Irish Eyes). Cormac Riordan must fulfill his family´s agreement to wed Claire O´Donnell. But nothing says he has to go any further than that. When her groom abandons her on their wedding night, Claire´s family is in an uproar. Claire simply wishes to have her husband back. Fear of a centuries old curse keeps Cormac from touching his bride, but not from falling in love with her. Touching story, though I was a bit annoyed at Claire several times, with her sort of Pollyanna attitude. This one earns three arrows.

Finally, we have the first of the new Three Sisters Island trilogy from Nora Roberts,
Dance Upon the Air (Jove). Wow. Nell Channing has made her escape to Three Sisters Island in her quest to remain hidden from her abusive husband. Little does she know the things that wait for her there, like two new friends, descendants of the three women who created their island to escape persecution during the witch trials in 1692. And a man to make her believe in love again, Zack Todd. But first there are some other things to work through. As usual, Ms. Roberts´ characters are so real you expect them to leap from the page and just be. And how can you not root for Nell once you´re inside her head. I can´t wait for the next book in the series, "Heaven and Earth." In the meantime, though, this one gets four and a half arrows.
