Roseanne was born November 3, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her parents were not rich and famous - her father was a blanket salesman, her mother a bookkeeper. She married and settled down, but found she wanted more out of life than to be a housekeeper. To help make ends meet she became a cocktail waitress, and her patrons loved her attitude. Soon comedy was her outlet.

Roseanne immediately struck a chord with woman looking for a real life role model, one that had the same issues they did, one that looked "real" and not like a Barbie Doll. An appearance on The Tonight Show launched her into her own TV show, named Roseanne, which was an instant hit.

This wasn't "Leave It To Beaver". Roseanne's TV family had real problems - ones that couldn't be solved neatly with everyone smiling. But they brought comfort and faith to the millions of women out there who were in the same situation - struggling to get by, wishing things were easier.

Roseanne is now married to her third husband, Ben Thomas, who was at one time her bodyguard. Her show has ended, but her influence lives on.
