Miss Plus America Pageant 2004 - Update

The second annual Miss Plus America Pageant will take place on July 29-31, 2004 in Monroe, Louisiana at the Holiday Inn Conference Center. Over 25 contestants will compete for the title of Plus America Elite.

Miss Plus America is the brain-child of Melissa Stamper (Executive Director) and her mother Beverly Phillips (Executive Producer). Melissa dreamed of creating a pageant where 'real' women are able to compete and be recognized as the great woman they are. It has become a family project.

A Family Affair
Melissa and Beverly are responsible for organizing and producing the pageants. Suzanne Phillips (sister, daughter) is the executive assistant who does all the paperwork and keeps everyone in line. Edwin Bass is responsible for staging. “There are many other wonderful people who give up their weekend to help us in our cause. We are very fortunate to have such a truly dedicated staff,” says Beverly Phillips.

The first pageant was held August 28 to August 30, 2003 in Monroe. The photo at right depicts the 2003 Plus America Elite winner, Lauren Monohan from Tennessee.

The Miss Plus America organization believes in healthy competition, however difficult, that promotes individuality, confidence and overall achievement among all delegates. It is an organization devoted to promoting the sophisticated, ambitious and responsible full-figured woman of the new millennium.

The judging process involves interviews as well as sportswear and evening gown events. Optional competitions include talent, pro-am modeling, spokes-model and online Cover Girl.

Age divisions
Teen (15-19)
Miss (20-29)
MS (30-39)

Prizes
Each division winner receives a crown, banner and $500 cash prize. The overall winner wins the Elite Plus America title and is awarded prizes totalling over $8000, including cash, jewelry and an all expense paid 7-day holiday in Cancun.
