Book Review - Special Occasions in Embroidery

Special Occasions in Embroidery

Special Occasions in Embroidery by Jill Carter

ISBN:0 7134 8637 6
2001 BW Batsford & Sons

Review copy kindly provided by Capricorn Link Australia who are the Australian Distributors for Batsford.

What a pleasure this book is - and how inspirational!

From the monent I first opened it, my fingers started to itch to stitch these projects - in all different techniques from Hardanger to Cross Stitch, and covering many different occasions.

Once again, Jill Carter shows her versatility as a designer and embroiderer, and we are the lucky ones who get to benefit from it.

From beautiful hardanger Christmas Ornaments, to exquisite heirloom sewing, you will find a special embroidery project to suit any and all occasions.

The book is well set out, with beautiful pictures of all projects, and well laid out instructions and stitching guides for each different technique used.

A world of warning: these are definately not projects for the beginner embroiderer. A reasonable level of skill is required, although not a very advanced one. With many of the projects, you could make them more complex if you wished.

I recommend this book to all embroiderers who are looking for a challenge and to stretch their skills.

Is there anything that you would particularly like to see an article on? If so, please e-mail me with your suggestions.

Have you finished a piece and want to display it? Then send it to me via e-mail and we will display it in the Gallery. Include a short bio of yourself and a description of your piece.
