Eastern Bluebird Photos and Information
Guest Author - Lisa Shea

I don´t normally get bluebirds in central Massachusetts, but in the early winter of 2001-2002 I had a pair appear in my front yard! They were checking out one of my birdhouses. I don´t think it was quite right for them - they ended up leaving - but now I have incentive to get some that are just their size, and see if I can catch them the next time around!

Eastern bluebirds are found from around the Kansas line eastwards. They´re around 7" long and can be either bright or dull blue depending on the season. These as you see aren´t very blue at all. They have soft, mellow whistles and calls, and like fields and woods.
