HGTV's Green Home Giveaway
Guest Author - Jennifer L. Thompson

HGTV is offering another great opportunity to own the home of your dreams in their 2008 Green Home Sweepstakes, starting March 21, 2008, and ending on May 9, 2008. This Year's Green Home package is valued at $850,000, and is located in a community called "Tradition Hilton Head", near Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This is somewhat of a new community that you could watch grow around you, as you live there and grow with it.

This home is built using green techniques and building materials, and is decorated with eco-friendly products, making it a unique project from the start... and a healthy home for the winning family to live in, in the end.

The interior is beautiful, with the main floor boasting hardwood floors. You will find the kitchen and laundry areas graced with the most modern, energy-efficient appliances, and plenty of cabinets. The colors scheme on the main floor is in pale tones with soft, foresty hues of green for accent, giving it an inviting light and airy feeling that warms up with the hardwood floors.

Upstairs, the guest bedroom is done cheerfully in something of an orange sherbert color that is bright, yet soft on the eyes. This color scheme follows in the sitting room, with the bunk area done in bright sky blue. Again, hardwood floors throughout the upstairs soften and warm up the theme.

A 2008 Yukon Hybrid tops the package off, giving you a luxurious drive.

Though this one will be much easier on the tax bracket than the Dream Home is, the winner will still be responsible for any "real estate transfer taxes, deed recording charges and closing costs" that are not already the responsibility of the developer, along with paying the taxes for the taxable value of this sweepstakes winnings.

Once the contest begins, you may enter daily, or enter once... the Grand Prize winner will be announced on June 8, 2008 at 10 pm eastern time on HGTV.
