Where to get Freebies and Discounts?
Free stuff and discounts are always great to get when you are shopping, especially when you’re on a budget. Businesses outside of the military base may have discounts or freebies for the military. But did you know that there are discounts and free stuff on military bases too?

Check you local base to see if they have a Self Help Store. In the Self Help Store you can find basic stuff such as light bulbs, duck tape, and paints that are free. The Self Help Store also loans out equipment if available such as trimmers, lawn mowers, and gardening tools. Check your local base for this store and find out what they have available. Before spending your money on basic needs like light bulbs check your Self Help Store first and save your money.

The Exchange on the military bases offers many discounts plus there are no taxes. You will find many name brand items that are below market value. Plus, the exchange price matches after you have made the purchase within 14 days or show at the time of purchase. For example, I wanted to purchase a movie that the exchange was selling for $29.99. I find an ad at Wal-Mart selling it for $15.99. I show the ad and got the movie for $15.99 and plus I paid no sales taxes because I purchased it at the exchange.

On Veterans Day November 11th many businesses offer a free meal or a free item such as Applebee’s and Outback Steakhouse for veterans. Check the business to see if they offer a military discounts because sometimes they won’t have it displayed, so asking won’t hurt. Many businesses such as Lowe’s and Home Depot offer year round discount.

If you like to travel or go to amusement parks before you pay the fee at the gate check your Tickets and Tours office at your local military base. Tickets and Tours offer tours and discounts on admission tickets. Some Tickets and Tours offices offer discounted plane tickets and hotel stays. When I plan a trip to have fun I check the hotels and the Tickets and Tour office to see where I get the better deal.

Another discount, movie theaters offers discounts on admission. Also, some military bases have movie theaters. Most movie theaters on base are free admission. However, the only charge you will occur if you want popcorn or drinks.

The school year has started for many kids. Clothing stores offer discounts to military such as Old Navy. You can check your local Old Navy store to see when they offer the discounts. Sometimes the store may offer the discount on a certain day of the week.

If you are an online shopper sites may offer military discounts. Also, military exchange AAFES at www.shopmyexhange.com you can make purchases and get free shipping. This site offers many discounts and they also have weekly sweepstakes. A great feature that AAFES online has is an auction section and bidding starts at a $1.00. So you can get jewelry or electronics that may cost over hundred dollars and could get it for what ever you bid on it. To save money don’t forget to check for discounts and don’t be afraid to ask.
