Conquer That Laundry Heap

Conquer That Laundry Heap
Do you sometimes feel that no matter how many loads of wash you do, more piles of clothes keep appearing? Establish a laundry system to make this chore more efficient and less time-consuming.

If you wash fewer than five loads per week, select one day to finish the entire process: sorting, laundering, folding, ironing and storing.

When washing several loads, try a daily system and strictly adhere to a morning or evening routine, doing one or two loads per day. Keep a supply of all products you will need close at hand. A pad and pencil nearby is useful for jotting down notes and reminders concerning replenishing laundry products.

Find a comfortable area for folding clean clothes. Recruit family members to help. This is an ideal time to get kids to open up while they are feeling comfortable and not under pressure to talk to you.

Set aside a space for a “repair center” for clothes that need new buttons, alterations or mending. Then try to do all the mending in one sitting. If your little ones are helping you sort the clean clothes, let them keep any change they find in pockets. They will love that. Also, keep a small dish nearby to collect other items.
