So Many Phobias

Phobias - Is there anything that you are afraid of? Anything that you try to stay away from? Everyone has their own set of fears. Sometimes there is a reason for those fears, sometimes not. A phobia is a persistent, irrational fear of an object, activity, situation or person.

Weird Phobias - There are so many phobias. Each and every one of them is fascinating. I think there is a phobia for just about everything in existence. A lot of phobias are considered common, others are considered to be weird or strange. In this article, I talk about some of the ones considered weird.

Strange Phobias - Unless you are afflicted with one of the following phobias, you will probably find them kind of humorous. It is hard for me to believe that some people really have fears about things that are so much a part of our everyday life. They do make characters interesting, though.

Animal Phobias = I am surrounded by animals. They make my life so enjoyable that I cannot imagine living without them. There are people, though, who live their life as far away as they can from certain animals. For some reason, animal phobias tend to be more common in females than in males.

Unusual Phobias - Some phobias are easier to deal with than others. Arachibutyrophobia, for example, would be an easy one for just about anybody to deal with. Others, like Geliophobia would be a bit more difficult.

Farm Animal Phobias - All of the following phobias have to do with farm animals, or animals that people have as pets. Remember, each time a person with a phobia is confronted by what he or she fears, there are physical reactions.

Rare Phobias - The following phobias are rare, but they would add complication to the life of one or more of your characters.

Irrational Fears - One of the ways to make your character more interesting is to give him or her an irrational fear, otherwise know as a phobia.

Acarophobia and Other Phobias - In this article, I’m going to tell you about some of the unusual phobias that begin with the letter “A”, and suggest a writing exercise for each one. Have fun with them!

Anablephobia and Other Fears - Phobias are a like a treasure mine to writers. These fears add both depth and uniqueness to our characters. Use the following phobias and come up with at least a story or story line for each one of them.
