Conclusion of Interview with Alice N. York

This is the conclusion of my interview with Alice N. York.

10) Did what happened to Alex, who was obviously an intelligent and hard-working woman, have anything to do with sexual discrimination?

Possibly, although that´s a tough question to answer. Who can say for sure? One can never know the situations of all the other people involved at work. What personal problems might they have had? Alex, as described in the book, does not see herself as a woman in her job, but rather as a gender-neutral person who is just there to do the job and have fun – to play the game to win. Maybe the people just didn’t want to play with her anymore, as the game she played forced them out of their comfort zones.

11) How long did it take you to write Game – Faint Signals?

From start to finish, including reading books about how to write a book, mapping out the characters and places, researching on technology, which tense to use, which narrative perspective, about 18 months.

12) Did you have to do any research to write this book? If so, how much?

Luckily some of the research was part of my daily routine which is scanning the news, reading my Google alerts on certain topics. But the rest was hard work, as writing a book was something completely new to me and I wanted to make it as good as I possibly could. In total I would guess that the research took up around 25-30% of my time.

13) Will there be a sequel to this powerful book so we can find out what happens to Alex? If so, when can we expect it to be released? Or are you working on a novel about a completely different subject?

That’s something I’m still thinking about. Either is possible, as for both things there would be enough stories and ideas. What´s important to me, though, is the readers’ feedback. If there aren’t many people out there who like my style of writing or the choice of topics I pick that would certainly have a major influence on my decision.

14) If you don't mind me asking, how much of the story is based on fact?

Quite a bit.

15) Is there anything else you would like to say?
Yes, thank you so much for reading my book and giving me the opportunity to take part in this interview. I´m fully aware how many books are written and published. So for an editor, there is a real abundance of good books to read with only so much time to do it.

I deeply appreciate how much of your own personal time you devoted to reading my book.

Thank you, Alice, for such a wonderful interview. Reading and reviewing Game - Faint Signals was a pleasure, as was interviewing you.

If you would like to purchase your own copy of this book to read and enjoy, for your convenience I have provided an Amazon link below.
