Conclusion of LegsIt was time. On her way to the kitchen for a glass of wine to calm herself down, she felt just inside her ear. She thought that maybe it would decide to crawl out on its own. Frantic breathing took over as she felt little legs scurry back into her ear again when her finger made contact with the devious little creature. She changed direction, went straight to the bathroom, and grabbed the peroxide. On her way back in the living room, she started the television, the DVD player, and the stereo. She pushed the play button right before she leaned her head over and poured the peroxide in her ear. The furious bubbling began and some of the peroxide ran down the side of her face and onto her nose. She wiped at her face to get the peroxide off, then realized that not all of that feeling was from the peroxide – there were little legs scurrying across her cheek! The bug had come out! She knocked it off the bridge of her nose onto the carpet and it just lay there. Was it dead? No, a scream came out of her mouth as it moved. Andrea came running in. “Mom, what's wrong?” “There. In the floor. It's still alive!” “It came out?” “Yeah.” “Mom," said Andrea as she leaned over to take a closer look, "it's a spider.” As a child and a young lady, arachnophobia had plagued Kathy. Through determination, she had overcome this terrible fear. Now she felt it all coming back. All at once. A spider, the object of her childhood fears, had lived inside her ear for most of the day. As the room began to spin, Kathy wondered if it had left any part of itself behind inside of her. Would she awaken soon and feel baby spiders, searching for freedom, climbing out of her ear? The above story didn't come completely from my imagination. It happened to me on October 13. At least the 13th didn't fall on a Friday this year. An American house spider crawled inside my ear early in the afternoon of that day and didn't come out until about 9:00 that evening. The spider is still alive in a jar in my daughter's room. She once had arachnophobia, but is actually building a habitat for the spider and is going to keep it as a pet. Once that is set up, I will take a picture of it and post it on BellaOnline. This is something that I never, ever thought would happen to me. Please feel free to use what happened to me as fodder for a story of your own.
