Dawes
Dawes is an American rock band from North Hills, California who has an authentically vintage vibe and play folk rock tunes. Having hit fame at a rapid speed this Americana/Soul/Indie band has already won over the hearts of folk music fans everywhere.

Formed in 2009, the band consists of brothers Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, Wylie Gelber and Tay Strathairn. Dawes was originally called Simon Dawes but after co-songwriter Blake Mills left the band they shortened their name and changed their sound from post-punk to folk rock.

Dawes is now part of the Laurel Canyon sound along with accomplished artists like Crosby, Stills, and Nash and Neil Young. They have since been signed by record label ATO Records which is North American and Loose Music which is their European label.

Their debut album titled North Hills was recorded with Laurel Canyon in a live setting to analog tape which resulted in Rolling Stone Magazine calling the sound “authentically vintage” and was released by ATO Records on August 18, 2009. Pat Sansone, a Wilco multi-instrumentalist, is also credited for appearing on the release. Dawes made their television debut by appearing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on April 14, 2010 to promote their music.

They released their second album titled Nothing Is Wrong on June 7, 2011 through ATO Records and on September 5, 2011 by Loose Music, Europe. Dawes toured the US after the release, co-headlining Blitzen Trapper to showcase their music. Paste Magazine named their latest album number 8 on The 50 Best Albums of 2011 list and American Songwriter Magazine named “If I Wanted Someone”, a track from Nothing Is Wrong, number 8 on the Top 50 Songs of 2011 list.

On December 1, 2011 Dawes played alongside Jackson Browne at Occupy Wall Street’s Liberty Park and has already set multiple concert dates for 2012.
