When I came across Voice of Choice, I knew I had to do an article about it. It is very rare to hear any positive news about the war on women. The truth is there are still people out there making a difference. This article is about some of them.

Todd Stave is the landlord of an abortion clinic. He rents the space to LeRoy Carhart, one of the few late term abortion providers in the country. The clinic is no stranger to anti abortion protestors but Todd Stave has no problem with it. He supports their first amendment rights and believes the most logical place for them to protest is outside the clinic.

In fact growing up, his doctor father ran the clinic. His sister would later manage it. Protestors would line the street outside his childhood home and the clinic was also firebombed.

It would be because of his own children and his protection of them that he would turn the protestor’s tactics around on them.

A group of anti abortion protestors showed up at his daughter’s middle school on two different occasions. Not only were they displaying signs of graphic images, but they had signs with his full name and contact information.

It wasn’t long before the calls from protestors started to flood his home at all hours of the day and night. Friends started asking how they could help him out.
Todd Stave collected the contact info of the protestors, and with about a dozen friends they started returning calls. Before they knew it they had over a thousand volunteers.

A single protestor could expect up to 5,000 return calls.

The calls consist of the volunteers respectfully stating that the Stave family thanks them for their prayers but they do not wish to terminate the lease with the abortion provider, and that they support women’s rights.

If the group was able to gather the family’s information, the volunteers would ask how their children were and mention their names and the names of their schools. They would end the call by offering prayers to the home of the protesters at their specific address.

Voice of Choice now has over 3,000 people manning the phones. No calls are made to clinic protesters who protest outside the clinic. The group only targets the homes of protesters who target the homes and families of doctors and landlords.

Todd Stave was recently awarded the Jan Yanehiro Speak Out for Choice Award for founding the website Voice of Choice, at the Naral Pro Choice America’s San Francisco Power of Choice Luncheon.

Congratulations to Mr. Stave and thank you for all you do for women!!!!!!

To show your support for Voice of Choice I have included links to both the website and Facebook page.
