Colorado Honeymoon – Park Hyatt Beaver Creek

Colorado Honeymoon – Park Hyatt Beaver Creek
The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek shines in the winter, when guests can schuss down the ski mountain right to the hotel, as well as the summer, when hiking trails beckon just outside its doors.

All year round, sterling service from the staff, little touches in the rooms and suites, delectable Colorado dining and a world-class spa add up to a romantic and plush place for a honeymoon. Here are more details why:

Location, location, location
Beaver Creek Village is a gated community, so its exclusivity lends itself to a feel of upscale luxury even before you arrive at the Park Hyatt. In the heart of the village, the hotel is adjacent not only to the ski mountain, but to the pedestrian plaza, with its year-round ice rink (imagine skating hand-in-hand under the stars), galleries, restaurants and shops.

The little things
The amenities in the guest-room bathrooms are delightful: real hair dryers (not those lame wall-mounted ones), your own loofah, individually wrapped cotton balls and swabs, a scale (for better or worse), a stepstool for young guests, and generous bottles of ginger peach shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. After skiing, enjoy complimentary hot cocoa, and at evening turndown, sample Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory toffees.

The décor
The setting is all mountain rustic here—from the dark pine accents in the rooms to the most magnificent antler chandelier in the lobby bar. A cozy public fireplace, rich upholstery and solid furnishings throughout the hotel also add to the elegance.

The Allegria Spa
The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek’s world-class spa was fabulous before, but after a $12 million renovation in 2006 it’s utterly spectacular. Expanded locker rooms and fitness center, new treatment rooms and brand new water-treatment ritual called Aqua Sanitas brought the entire spa up to 30,000 square feet—likely the largest hotel spa in Colorado.

A Kinesis exercise class—offered on one of four such cable-and-pulley systems in Colorado—is a must for anyone interested in sampling a rigorous full-body workout. There's lots of cardio equpiment, full sets of free weights and strength-training machines in the fitness center, too. Plus an Olympic-sized outdoor pool.

Spa treatments ranging from the Ginger Peach body scrub to the Sweet Lavender Milk & Honey Bath Balancing Hot Oil Treatment are sublime. (Of course there are standard massages and facials, too.) Couples can have their own private treatment in specially designed rooms.

Activities galore
In addition to the aforementioned skiing in the winter, hiking in the summer and ice-skating all year round, there are billiard tables in the hotel's Whiskey Elk Lounge and an outdoor fire pit for congregating over evening cocktails.

Summer brings “Fridays at the Park” at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, a festive weekly celebration in the warm-weather months (enjoy the free popcorn!), as well as opportunities for nearby white-water rafting, horseback riding, hot-air ballooning, kayaking—even outdoor yoga.
