"Jan hearts Jeremy but Jeremy has issues"
Jan Lumeneski and Jeremy Tanner met in highschool. Jan was anti-social and Jeremy was determined. They became best friends then one day Jan moved away and she always regretted never taking the relationship beyond friendship. Jan is a successful fashion designer in Manhattan who racks up one night stands with men who mean nothing to her and Jeremy is a widower who still lives in a small town; his sex life is just as meaningless as Jan's. Years later Jan returns home to attend a funeral and her and a fatter Jeremy reconnect. It is like they never parted but that is also part of the problem.

When I visited Split Screen for the first time I had no idea I would spend the next hour and half reading 76 pages of a comic strip explaining the difficult relationship between Jan and Jeremy. I was instantly addicted to this black and white online comic with full screen images. The characters are really cute and the story line is engaging.
The tagline for the series is "Jan hearts Jeremy but Jeremy has issues" which is true but Jan also has some issues of her own to deal with too.
I was surprised on how many issues the 76 pages (what are online comic pages called anyway? ) touched on:
- friendship between men and women
- gay relationships
- death
- overeating/obesity
- depression
- unrequited love
- insecurity
- body image/self esteem
