Australian Magazines for Visitors

Australian Magazines for Visitors

If you are interested in visiting Australia the first thing you’ll want to do is find out a little more about the country. This will help you determine just where your interests lie, and how you can satisfy your curiosity within your interest scope and thus make the most of your vacation time in Australia.

To that end, Australia has a large range of publications that can be useful for visitors to get the bigger picture about the cultural and environmental uniqueness of this great land, together with a micro viewpoint of particular interests and topics.

Here’s a few of the publication I think might be of interest to potential visitors. Both of these publications can be accessed on line.

Outback Magazine

The Australian magazine called OUTBACK is the most comprehensive publication that gives the reader an overall feel for the life of those living in the outback, and those who are travelling through, lapping up all that there is to offer.

This magazine concentrates on the people, traditions, and new ways of living in the bush. And it has a national viewpoint – from the rugged Tasmanian south west to the exquisite waters of the Kimberley Coast, Outback takes you there with fabulous photographs and great penmanship.

Australian Geographic Magazine

In 1985, one of Australia’s entrepreneurs, Dick Smith (who owned a chain of electronics businesses) put his money where his mouth is and commenced publishing Australia’s answer to the iconic National Geographic magazine.

Dick is renowned for his championing of all things Australian and the introduction of this magazine aroused the nationalistic tendencies in many Australians, and is said to have been the initial impetus that put Australia as a first class world destination “on the map” so to speak.

Australian Geographic is a wonderful magazine that brings Australia to life for the reader. Flora and Fauna are common subjects, but so too are the influences and effects of our modern day life on the Australian environment.
