Flavored Mayo Recipes for Sandwiches

Flavored Mayo Recipes for Sandwiches
Basic condiments bind a sandwich together, add moisture, and enhance flavor. Commonly used condiments include mayonnaise, salad dressing, mustard, catsup, horseradish, marinara sauce, and barbecue sauce. Oil, with or without vinegar, is also added. These condiments are convenient and can be poured straight out of the bottle onto a sandwich. Add your own creativity and a few basic herbs and spices for a food lover's dream condiment. Tailor them to your unique tastes. This article will get you started with some flavored mayonnaise.

The ingredients are listed for each recipe, but I didn't write a method for each, because they are just combined in a small bowl. Any of the flavored mayos benefits from resting for at least an hour in the refrigerator to let the flavors mingle until they are simply delicious together.

All of these flavored mayos are suitable for any use that you prefer, but for simplicity's sake, I have grouped them according to the meats that they pair with especially well. These are also delicious on veggie burgers. Don't be limited by what I think! Use your creativity to add them to any sandwich!

Poultry and Pork

Mango Mayo

2 tablespoons of your favorite mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of Patek’s Sweet Mango Chutney (You may substitute your favorite mango chutney.)
1 tablespoon of Grey Poupon’s Creamy Dijon (No substitutions, please.)

Maple Mayo

2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
½ teaspoon Vermont Maple Balsamic Vinegar (Available in specialty stores or online from The Tasteful Olive.)

Beef Sauce

2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon stone ground mustard (I use Inglehoffer's.)
2 teaspoons catsup
2 teaspoons Claussen sweet pickle relish
1 teaspoon finely chopped onion (optional)
1-2 drops balsamic vinegar (optional)

Horsey Sauce

2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of prepared horseradish (I use the Brede brand. You may use less horseradish, if you don't love it like I do!)

Olive Mayo

2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon muffaletta (I use That Pickle Guy brand.)
2 drops balsamic vinegar (I use the Aceto brand.)

Tartar Sauce or Dilly Mayo

1/3 cup of mayonnaise,
½-1 teaspoon of finely grated Vidalia onion
½ teaspoon of dill weed (rubbed between your fingers to release the oil)
½ teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
1 teaspoon Claussen sweet pickle relish

(To make Dilly Mayo, just leave out the lemon juice and pickle relish.)

Old Bay Mayo

1/3 cup of mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
¼ teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Inglehoffer’s Stone Ground Mustard
4 drops of balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon Organic Blue Agave syrup

I wanted to gather the flavored mayonnaise recipes, so that they would be easier to find and use. Some of these are old favorites, while others are new. Enjoy them on your preferred sandwiches. When you use a special sauce, it just jazzes that old favorite up!
