The Hunger Games - Catching Fire

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark may have been victors in the 74th Annual Hunger Games but their lives are in upheaval. President Snow, still seething over their defiance in the previous games, declares the 75th Hunger Games as the Quarter Quell, where past victors must fight against each other. Meanwhile there is upheaval in the districts of Panem and Katniss soon finds herself as the face of the rebellion. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “The Hunger Games – Catching Fire”.

∙ Katniss walks out of the front door of her house with Effie Trinket behind her and notices the TV camera’s for Caesar Flickerman’s show. In the close-up, side view, Effie nudges Katniss with both hands and then raises her arm. It cuts to a farther, front view and Effie does the same thing again.

∙ When Effie is on stage “welcoming” everyone, the front view of her when she says “as we celebrate the 75th anniversary…”, her arms are bend and her hands are against her chest. It cuts to a rear view of her and Effie’s hands are raised up by her sides.

∙ Haymitch is talking to Peeta and Katniss when they’re sitting at the table once they’ve arrived at the Capitol. In the view of the three of them, when Haymitch says “I want you guys to forget everything you think you know about the Games”, Peeta’s arms are down with his hands in his lap. It cuts to a front view of Peeta and Katniss when Haymitch says “last year was child’s play” and Peeta’s elbows are up on the table and his face pressed against his hands. (He then drops his hands back in his lap.)

∙ When Peeta gives Katniss the locket with pictures of her mother, Prim and Gale, the locket is folded back when he places it in her hand. But in the close-up of the locket, it’s fully open and the edges are pressed up/forward.

∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! When Katniss wakes up on the ship after being taken out of the games/dome, she starts to sit up. The close-up shows her hair is back, behind her shoulders. It cuts to a front view of her and her hair falls in front of her left shoulder.

“The Hunger Games – Catching Fire” (2013) stars Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz and Stanley Tucci. It runs 146 minutes and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some frightening images, thematic elements, a suggestive situation and language.
