To encourage Americans to consider organ and tissue donation and to sign donor cards when getting a driver’s license. National Library Week April. 15-21. National Library Week is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries, librarians and library workers and to promote library use and support. April Fools’ or All Fools’ Day. April 1. New Year’s Day used to be April 1, but was changed to Jan. 1 in 1564. People who insisted on celebrating the “old” New Year became knows as “April fools,” and it became common to play jokes and tricks on them.
Easter Sunday. April 8. Christian festival to commemorate the resurrection of Christ.
National Library Workers Day. April 17. The Allied Professional Association of the American Library Association (ALA-APA) annually sponsors National Library Workers Day, which falls on the Tuesday of National Library Week. The purpose is to recognize all library workers, including librarians, support staff and others who make library service possible every day.
