Book Review - The Strength to Be Yourself

Until I recently received and read a copy of Penny Dablin’s book, The Strength to Be Yourself: Emotional Freedom in Your Health, Wealth and Relationships, energy therapy was a foreign concept to me. The idea, according to the author, is that the human body runs in part on a system of energy, which produces vibrations that can significantly influence many of the physical, emotional, and psychological issues that manifest in our daily lives. As an energy therapist and success coach, Penny Dablin guides readers through the process of harnessing the body’s energy system and channeling it in ways that will help them to address, alleviate, and in some cases even resolve various problem areas in their lives.

Using strategies that she refers to as “Emotional Freedom Techniques” or “EFT”, Penny Dablin shows readers how to regain and/or strengthen control over the negative emotions that serve as roadblocks to personal growth and success. Although the book focuses primarily on issues related to weight, stress, depression, finances, allergies, and relationships, the author claims that these techniques can be effectively used on virtually any issue. Penny Dablin is so confident that EFT techniques can transform her readers’ lives that she even guarantees it.

The book itself is a very easy and entertaining read. I finished it in just a few hours and found it to be both uplifting and enjoyable. The techniques described in the book are straightforward and easy to incorporate into daily practice. Although the ideas presented may seem a bit far-fetched at first, they are simple enough to at least be worthy of a try, especially since there is nothing to lose by doing so. What I liked most about the book is that it is written in a very inspirational manner so that the reader almost immediately feels empowered and driven to address some of the negative emotions that may be holding them back from making physical, psychological, and emotional progress.

The section dedicated to improving romantic relationships should be of particular interest to singles that are currently struggling to find success in the dating scene. Using the techniques described in the book, readers can tackle persistent negative beliefs that may be hindering their potential for dating success and can replace those negative beliefs with more empowering attitudes that will boost their self-esteem and also give them the tools that they need to effect lasting change in their love lives.

For those who are longing for an uncomplicated, inexpensive and effective way to improve their daily lives, I highly recommend The Strength to Be Yourself as an inspirational read that will make a great addition to any collection of self-improvement literature.
