Military Channel's Operation V-day
Guest Author - Stacey Abler

The Department of Defense has teamed up with Discovery Communications' Military Channel to bring you Operation V-Day. The Military Channel's Operation V-Day is a broadcast of messages from servicemembers on Valentine's Day.

Beginning at 6 a.m. on February 14, messages from servicemembers stationed in countries across the world will be aired. These messages are sent from soldiers who are deployed and stationed overseas to their family members and loved ones in the United States. This 24 hour commercial free event is sure to bring tears to the eyes of many here in the United States and a lot of smiles as well!

In addition, the Military Channel will be accepting video from soldiers who are serving overseas for other programming. The Military Channel has recognized how many soldiers are uploading video to YouTube and their MySpace pages to share with the world.

Through their new programming, they are giving the soldiers the opportunity to bring more attention to these videos that are being produced. The news stations and other media outlets are always telling the stories of the soldiers and the events that happen overseas. More often than not, those stories do not portray events in a positive light.

Now through this new programming, the stories will be told from the soldier's point of view. Any video can be submitted by visiting the Military Channel's website. Not all videos will be used but it is still a great way to have your story or your soldier's story told to a much wider audience.

To learn about the official rules and guidelines for submitting your own video, please visit the Military Channel's website at the link that is listed below.
