Democrats are not Libertarians

Confusing Politics
Politics baffles many people. Sorting out the differences between liberal/Democrat, conservative/Republican, libertarian, can be a confusing exercise. It is understandable that many citizens come to disdain politicians as charlatans, when we see Hillary Rodham Clinton caught prevaricating over her activities as First Lady, and Barack Obama claiming he had no idea that his pastor of twenty years was a flaming racist.

The big Bosnia lie is just the tip of the iceberg for this woman. An avid gun-control advocate, she suddenly becomes “Annie Oakley,” according to her opponent, when it fits her agenda. So is she for gun-control or not? It depends on which state she is in, of course.

Libertarians are not Democrats
There is an erroneous notion afloat that the Libertarian Party is similar to the Democrat Party. The uninformed will claim they are Libertarians and then declare support for a Democrat candidate or agenda. Clearly, there is a disconnect between what the Libertarian Party stands for and what the Democrat Party stands for.

The policies of the Libertarian Party and the Republican Party have much more in common. The Republican Party is the party of small government, low taxes, and strong defense. The Libertarian Party advocates “smaller government, lower taxes, and more freedom.”

Big Government Democrats
The Democrat Party, on the other hand, is the party of bigger government, higher taxes, and more regulation and intrusion into individual lives, guaranteeing less freedom, not more.

This position is currently on display during this election season. Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton both are peddling a socialist agenda. They both want to socialize medicine, which means they would raise taxes so that the government could supposedly pay for medical treatment for everyone. This would lead to even more government regulation of medicine than we have now.

To understand the effect of “universal healthcare” or government-regulated healthcare, just look at Canada and Great Britain. When Canadians need immediate care, they come to the U. S., or end up suing their own government to get care.

The cumbersome nature of government-regulated healthcare affects the quality and quantity of medical care. For the worst example of such a system, look at Cuba. When ordinary Cubans, as opposed to the ruling class, go to the hospital, they have to take their own sheets, towels, and even their own aspirin.

Libertarian and Republican Independence
Both Obama and Clinton push plans to control the economy. They pit the middle-class against the rich and promise to tax the rich to pay for government regulation. They pretend that they have the ability to bring down gas prices, but such government tampering has always led to higher prices and inflation. The economy is best left to self-regulation. Government control has never improved economic conditions in any country.

Like Libertarians, Republicans believe in the independent spirit that the Founding Fathers wrote into our founding documents, the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Smaller government means more liberty and prosperity for everyone. Big government Democrat policies, like those being spewed by Clinton/Obama, would result in a system of control that would require another revolution to change.
