You and Your Children
The idea of teenage pregnancy is looked down on by many and this is usually because people tend to judge the sort of life the child will live having such young parents who maybe aren't settled in a big house with careers and a lot of money coming in. Although teenage pregnancy shouldn't be promoted - I saw this quote and thought that it could apply to a lot of girls who end up having children at a very young age and yet manage to succeed and grow into a wonderful mother.
The idea that Zadra is trying to convey in this quote is that money is not everything, and even more than that - material gifts are not everything. The bond between a parent and their child is to do with love, care and a connection that will last a lifetime. The idea of inheritance tends to link to the idea of how your child will be left when they are on their own without the influence of their parents anymore. The basis of a fulfilled child from this quote seems to be that they have learnt the rights and the wrongs from their parents - they have learnt how to live and how to love - how to succeed and how to grow as a person. And from this, does it matter if the parents are young or if the child had very little materialistic gifts when they were younger? Does it matter that they have not worn the best clothes or haven't had the latest mobile phone? I guess this focuses on what a person is like inside and what they learn as they grow up and this come's from our parents and our upbringing.
In a way, it is our parents who give us our start in life, they give us the tools emotionally and mentally for how to prepare us for lives on our own and how to live our life when we don't have them or other people to always watch over us. I think Zadra highlights this point excellently in this quote in a way which can show people that love and our internal greatness is worth a lot more than what we possess materialistically.
