Bird Halloween Costume Ideas

Halloween is right around the corner. Don't wait until the last minute to think of a Halloween costume. Stumped for an idea? Here are 3 Halloween costume ideas related to birds.
How about he main character from Alfred Hitchcock's movie The Birds - Tippi Hedren? This may sound a little macabre, but hey, it is Halloween after all. To pull of this costume, you’ll want to purchase a vintage blue dress, you can find these very cheaply on ebay or you could go to the a thrift store. I would guess you should expect to pay anywhere from $10 to $15. Next buy a short blonde wig around ($6 at Target or Walmart). Then visit your local craft store and purchase 6-10 black birds ($1.00-2.00 each) and hot glue them to the dress. Buy some fake blood and splatter near the birds for a real authentic look.
Maybe that is a little too morbid for you. Here's another idea that may be more your style. Why not go to that Halloween party as a birder? This great outfit will be easily identifiable and will be sure to get lots of laughs!
Items:
Cargo pants with lots of pockets
Shirt with pockets
binoculars on neck strap
hat with strap around it
birding book
birding pins
It would be great if you place the birding book in your shirt pocket and top of it sticks out a little so party goers can easily identify what the book is about. Basically, you will want to look like you are on a safari. You can have a lot of fun with the binoculars. Keep picking them up and staring at people with them. They'll figure out your costume in no time.
Want to take it a step further? Talk about the plumage of party goers, their courtship habits and their feeding habits. There will be no doubt in their minds what your costume is.
The third idea is very simple. How about a Jail Bird? You will need either and orange jumpsuit or a black and white striped shirt and top. You can easily find these at any Halloween costume store and they should not be too terribly expensive. Alternatively, you may want to shop at a thrift store. I am always surprised at what I can find at my local thrift stores.
