Halloween's coming, Halloween's coming, Ghosts and Goblins will be following you... or something like that. What kid doesn't like Halloween? And what adult doesn't remember the joy of going door to door incognito with your pillowcase. Well you might be too old to carry a pillowcase but you're not too old to dress up and pretend for a few hours. There's no reason Halloween has to be just for kids or just for skinny people. There is an assortment of companies out there catering to the plus-size consumer. Fear not you do have a wonderful selection to choose from.
I have used my web hound skills and came up with five companies for you to choose your Halloween delights from.Buy Costumes - "They have a huge selection of costumes. There are well over 100 in plus size styles to choose from. The usual pirates and vampires as well as some unique ones like Tracy Turnblad and Edna from Hairspray, Marilyn Monroe, Mermaid, Egyptian Queen, Wilma, Batgirl, Alice and Irish Lass (see sizing)."
Costume Craze - "Their plus size costumes are found under the heading "Costumes for Full-Figured Adults". There are 140 plus size styles to choose from some of which I've never seen before. There were lots of fairies, a couple different styles of pirates, batgirl, southern belle, Viking woman, wonder woman (pictured), super girl and princess Fiona. Read the fine print as the costume may not be all you see."
Torrid - They carry a regular line of sexy fashion forward clothing for the trendy plus size woman with attitude. For Halloween they are carrying a special line of costumes only available at Torrid. It's not a huge selection but it's popular. This year they have sailor, riding hood, pirate wench, vampire, tea party hostess, french maid, miss wonderland, referee, lady bug, lady luck, cop, queen of wonderland, and lots of interesting accessories.
Party America - "They have forty plus size women's costumes ranging from sexy to spooky. The ones that stood out the most were Cleopatra, Gothic Pirate, Lili and Gypsy. Quite a few of the other styles I've seen elsewhere but they are competitively priced."
Fright Catalog - "They have thirty-three plus size Halloween styles to choose from for men and women in the plus size section. For women they range from sleazy or sexy to spooky. The traditional vampires, bar wenches, gypsies and Medusa as well as a sexy bunny and woman in a straight jacket."
I hope you find the costume of dreams. Remember you're never too old for Halloween. And just because you're older doesn't mean you can shirk the safety tips you learned when you were younger:
*Always tell someone where you're going.
*Carry your ID with you.
*Don't walk down unlit alleys alone.
One of the most important adult safety tips...
*Don't drink and drive.
Having sweets and driving is ok though. Have a safe and happy Halloween.
