Smartphones of today are great in many ways. You can not just talk on them, but you can take pictures, play games, listen to your favorite music and more. But did you know that you can also watch TV or movies right on your smartphone? This especially comes in handy when you find yourself needing to pass the time. For example, waiting in the doctor’s office, relaxing on your lunch break or like I was today, chilling poolside while my children splashed their hearts out.
If you have a smartphone, here are a few programs you can download for free and enjoy immediately.
HBO Go (Available if you currently subscribe to HBO with your television provider). For example, I have DirecTV. With my DirecTV package, I pay for HBO as one of my premium channels. As a result, I was able to download HBO Go from the Android market, sign in with my DirecTV information and instantly have access to tons of movies and television programs…at no extra charge!
If you visit ShadownNet from your smartphone, you can instantly stream live television programs. The other day, my husband was able to watch the beginning of the NBA Finals on his smartphone from work. He thin finished watching the rest of the game when he got home. They have tons of local channels as well as cable channels that you can watch.
SPB TV offers over 150 subscription free channels. SPB TV also offers cool features like Video on Demand and Picture in Picture. This program can be downloaded for free from the Android Market. (It is also available for IPhones and Blackberrys).
Droid TV offers a free version as well as a paid version. With the free version you get access to about 100 episodes recorded from popular TV shows. You would download Droid TV right from the Android Market. If you decide to go with the paid version later on, it’s only $8.99 for 6 months.
**Please keep in mind that all of these programs use the internet and so you will need to make sure you currently subscribe to an unlimited data plan on your phone or access the programs over a wi-fi connection so you aren't using your phone's data.
